Alastair Breen is back from a 2 month research stay at Kunming University of Science and Technology

During March and April, Alastair Breen visited the group of Prof Jihong Zhang (a former University of Nottingham, School of Pharmacy student) at the Kunming University of Science and Technology to share his expertise in encapsulating antitumour Benzothiazoles within apoferritin.

This proved to be very successful and the formulations were tested in a panel of Gastric and Hepatic cancer cells lines. Promising activity was found in Gastric cancer cell lines and encapsulation within apoferritin was shown to significantly enhance the activity of antitumour benzothiazoles.

Following these encouraging in-vitro results, in-vivo experiments are currently being planned and will hopefully commence shortly!

So, overall a very successful trip.
